Majesta M., an accomplished second generation jewelry designer, has brought her talents and passion of jewelry designing to Gem Faire. Majesta makes her classes & demonstrations fun, intriguing & easy to follow instruction. Her main focus is to teach you not only wearable art, but also sellable art. Majesta's designs are found in better boutiques & galleries across the U.S.
MajestaM.com is also a large jewelry component company. This will give you the opportunity to understand the difference in quality components, seeing different materials and how they influence your designs. Even though Majesta M is growing at a fast & furious pace, Majesta still makes time to bring her passion to the classroom (Gem Faire exclusive). This opportunity is not to be missed. You will be given everything you need to design sellable art. Crafty projects are not taught here.

Carolyn Eddy, a self-taught wire artist, has been teaching Gem Faire classes for 7 years. She has mastered the mechanics of wire-wrapping, and in the last 17 years she has developed arevolutionary, step by step, no stress method of teaching students how to design jewelry with wire (wire-wrapping). She has won numerous awards nationally and internationally. Her work has been shown in various art shows, fairs, and collections all across North America. Her passion for wire-wrapping, as well as years of experience teaching and judging fine art create an effective and innovative classroom environment. She has also authored two books including “Let’s Get Wrapped!” and “All Wrapped Up!” All classes include materials & handouts unless otherwise stated. Tools furnished for classroom use without charge. Samples of class projects & alternate class projects are on display at the show.

Chain making workshops by Karen Hung

Classes are offered at all Costa Mesa Gem Faires.
Karen Hung is a self taught chain making professional. She has been making and selling her chains at juried art shows, galleries and from her website for 4 years. The Gem Faire 2 hour chain making workshops include: instruction on the proper method of opening and closing rings, instruction for one foundation chain weave and a variation of that foundation weave.
Supplies are included in the workshop cost and include enough copper rings to complete the foundation weave and a sample of the variation. All tools needed to weave chain are provided for your use during the workshop.
Please note: be sure to bring glasses if needed. If there is particular chain weave students would like to learn, special Gem Faire workshop requests are very welcome. However, please email request prior to workshop.

She has authored several books, Daisy Chain Bracelets, Cabochon Bezels and PowerPoint for Beading and is currently working on a new book.

Free wire wrapping demos by Karen Nan Varela

Karen Nan Varela has been creating glass artwork for over 35 years. She loves demonstrating groovy wire wrap with a heart, and dichroic glass is her favorite material. She is also specialized in the unique wire wrapping of fused glass pieces that she personally creates in her California studio. Even though her signature piece is the heart shaped cabochons, her collection also includes a vast assortment of unique shaped cabochons, pendants and beads. Her directions are eary to follow. Demos are conducted all day throughout the weekend. Karen also enjoys working on larger glass sculptural pieces. Some of which have been shown in galleries throughout southern California. Beginning techniques with Cabochons by Ann Severine

Classes are offered only at Albuquerque Gem Faire.
Ann Severine begin beading in 1991. For the last six years, she has taught her designs at many stores and bead societies in California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Michigan, as well as Bead Fest in Phoenix. Ann visited Saraguro, Ecuador in 2003 and teaches their unique beading designs and techniques in addition to many other projects and techniques. Her website is www.annseverine.com
Learn basic techniques with seed beads to prepare a bezel for a cabochon, as well as embellishment ideas and finishing techniques. The project can be finished as a brooch or a pendant. The 3-hour class costs $30. Kits cost $15. Those not able to take the class can buy a kit with directions for $25.

Danielle Chase is an accomplished designer and instructor with 5 years experience in metalsmithing, forging and chain maille construction. Danielle offers demos and classes in the following chain maille techniques: byzantine, box weave, wayfarers weave and half hitch. Classes and demos are held on demand and last about 1-2 hours.
